Sunderland BME Network is a member-led, infrastructure charity (Charity No: 113​​0886​) that supports and promotes the development of Global Majority VCS organisations in the City of Sunderland and neighbouring areas. Sunderland BME Network was established in 2003, became a constituted body in 2005 and registered as a charitable company in 2009.

Our vision is to enable BME VCS groups to develop and flourish and continue to support the communities they represent.

Our Mission

Promoting the black and minority ethnic voluntary and community sector for the benefit of the people of Sunderland, and the North East, and promoting the effective use of charitable resources by the black and minority ethnic VCS. The Network does this through providing a range of core functions:

  • Advocacy, advice and information
  • Commissioning / undertaking research
  • Acting as an umbrella or resource body

What we do

Primarily Sunderland BME Network support existing or emerging Global Majority VCS organisations situated in Sunderland and the surrounding areas. This support is offered via a range of core functions and delivered by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers
